Experience Montenegro, explore the country and enjoy traditional gastronomy. By taking this tour, you will have chance to visit different zones off the country, starting from the beautiful Adriatic Coast, all the way to the high mountains of the north. These areas are not only diverse in geographical characteristics, but also they carry out different cultural influences and gastronomy. You will be able to explore old towns at the Adriatic coast with typical southern gastronomy, old royal capital Cetinje and have a visit to the honey farm, Lake Skadar with its family wineries and north of Montenegro with its breathtaking nature and hearty homemade meals!

  • Day 1: Kotor – Perast & Our Lady of the Rocks – Kotor Cooking class experience and lunch

    Ride in direction of Perast.

    Perast & Our Lady of the Rocks - Panoramic ride through Bay of Kotor surroundings will take us to Perast - one the best preserved baroque settlements in Mediterranean. After a short walk through the city center, we will take easy 5 minutes boat ride to the artificial island Our Lady of the Rocks famous for its beauty and interesting stories and legends.

    25 minutes ride in direction of Kotor.

    Kotor old town - Our guide will pick you up at accommodation, and you will go for a guided walking tour in the Old town Kotor - UNESCO Protected World Heritage Site. You will enjoy cozy streets, visit the Square of arms and ,stand in front of the Clock tower. You will walk over wide squares and see numerous historical buildings, palaces and churches. You will be impressed by unique Cathedral of Saint Triphon and church of Saint Luca's, both dating from 12th century. You will have a great views toward fortress of Saint John and hear great stories of this unique town.

    Kotor Cooking class experience - approx 3 hours - Only few minutes from the Main Gates of old town you will have a chance to enter the door of the local family home. You will immediately be charmed by the warm welcome of our lovely, outgoing and humorous host.

    Have a laugh while tasting the local wine, rakija brandy or homemade juice and you will feel like you are the part of the family. But don’t get to comfortable, there is lunch to be made… by you. :) Put on apron and cook together with your host.

    You will have a chance to prepare 1 or 2 dishes characteristic for the area of Bay of Kotor and have lunch made of starter, main course and desert. Our lady host will show you how to prepare food on authentic and traditional way.

    Have in mind that, as you are at Adriatic (Mediterranean) coast, most of the traditional food and specialties are based on fish and sea food, but there are also great meat options. Have in mind that our host only counts fresh and organic food picked up by local suppliers the same day of your visit. You will learn the local recipes, that you can later prepare for your family and friends back home. After everything is done, you will all sit together on the terrace have a talk, another drink or two, and feast on enjoyable meal.

    In the late afternoon we will proceed back to your accommodation.

  • Day 2 – Njegusi village degustation – Cetinje city tour - Honey farm lunch and experience

    We start the tour to Lovcen Mountain following the famous 25 serpentine old road connects Kotor with Lovcen and Cetinje region. Switchbacks will take us to few amazing viewpoints, postcard worthy, that gives you a bird perspective at Bay of Kotor. After the stop for photo taking we will proceed to the so called “royal village” of Njegusi.

    Njegusi village degustation - There are two main reasons Njegusi village have a great importance in Montenegrin history. First one is that the most famous Montenegrin dynasty, dynasty Petrovic - Njegos, origins from this village. The second one –‘’Njeguski’ prosciutto and cheese, the most popular starter in all of the restaurants throughout Montenegro is coming from here. And you will have the chance to try right in the village, in the oldest “kafana” in Montenegro, dating from the year 1887.

    Cetinje city tour - After the visit to the village Njegusi, we will start to decline towards old royal capital – Cetinje. Your guide will take you through the historical parts of this “city-museum”, where you will be able to visit its most important monuments. You will see the famous Blue Palace and many old embassies. You will get to see the ruins of old Cetinje Monastery from the 15th Century and the 19th Century Cipuri church before we come to the Monastery of Cetinje, which was rebuilt at the beginning of the 18th Century and even today it is the centre of our Orthodox church. You will see the Biljarda castle, then monument dedicated to Ivan Crnojevic, King Nicholas palace and many others.

    Bajice honey farm experience - approx 2 hours - Next stop is the local household – honey farm in the village nearby. Here you will be able to try traditional Montenegrin cuisine and various kinds of liqueurs, made of fruit and honey, strong brandies or different sorts of wine. You will hear family stories and enjoy interior of 200 years old family house. Because of its variety of herbs, Lovcen Mountain is ideal place for beekeeping. The honey from this region is really something else, and so are sweet liqueurs that our host produces. The hearty meals that you will be served are made of their own products, and typical Montenegrin dishes characteristic for Lovcen mountain area.

    After the lunch it is time to proceed in direction of your accommodation.

  • Day 3 – Podgorica city tour – Visit to local vinery - Lake Skadar boat ride – Plantaze visit and experience

    After the breakfast we drive in direction of Lake Skadar.

    Local family winery visit - We will visit than visit the local family winery in on of the local villages, and enjoy different sorts of wines, fruit liqueurs and brandies. In beautiful environment of the village, with great view you will learn about the wine preparation, before finally having a chance to try it. During wine tasting traditional Montenegrin products will be served.

    Lake Skadar 1 hour 30 minutes boat ride - After the great experience at the winery, we will proceed to Virpazar, medieval fishing village known for trading, fishing, wine and grape. In Virpazar we will start a beautiful boat ride at the Lake Skadar. Ride will take you through the channel and open zone full of beautiful panorama, stories, and if we are lucky you will see some rare bird species, as there are more than 270 species you can find in national park. For refreshments, our host on the boat will serve us with delicious homemade donuts and drinks (water and juices).

    Plantaze experience & Lunch - approx. 1 hour 30 minutes - We will start our journey back to the region of Podgorica, and we will visit the most important wine producer in Montenegro – Plantaze, whose vineyards cover impressive area of 2300ha. You will visit former military airport hidden in the hill, and today it’s a company vine cellar more than 300 m long. There, you will have guided tour through the cellar and lunch – gastro experience (vegetarian, meat or fish menu prepared by one of the most famous chef’s of former Yugoslavia region and combined with the tasty wine).

    After the lunch, we will have short ride to come to downtown of Podgorica for a short city tour.

    Podgorica walking tour - We will visit remains of Ottoman old town and continue to see the part of the town mostly built during the time of Communism when the town was known as Titograd, named by the former Yugoslavian leader Josip Broz Tito. You will see its institutions, parks, bridges and monuments of former leaders as you walk through the charming streets of Podgorica.

  • Day 4 – Ostrog monastery – Rural household visit

    Ride in direction of Ostrog Monastery.

    Ostrog Monastery visit
    - After the breakfast we will have a ride in direction of Ostrog Monastery, one of the most famous monasteries in Orthodox tradition visited by the thousands of visitors and pilgrims every month. We will visit its lower monastery of Saint Trinity before we take a ride to the Upper monastery where we will visit its oldest part from 17th century and see the remains of Saint Basil its founder and protector. Have in mind that, especially in the high season, we would have to walk up the hill approx 1km.

    30 - 45 minutes ride in direction of Trubjela village.

    Rural household experience - approx. 2 hours - We will continue toward a local household in village near Niksic to enjoy local hospitality and their great cuisine. You will sample different kinds of homemade products specially prepared by our hosts like three different kinds of fruit brand, honey, specialties of meat, juices and cheese all prepared in the traditional Montenegrin way. Host is known for preparing the meal in the old traditional way, – Under the iron bell. That is a part of old tradition,that makes meat and other ingredients to have tasty and unique flavour.

    You will feel good known Montenegrin hospitality on the every step of the tour. You will see the interiors of an old Montenegrin home and learn about how food was prepared and preserved during the winters. Our host will show you his bee hives, and his interesting orchard with more than 20 trees of different kinds of fruit.
